Jointly sponsored by Tennis Nashville and Nashville Tennis Meetup, the second annual Tennis Nashville Fall Classic Tournament was held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville, Tennessee. Sixty players converged on the courts for an afternoon of social tennis and eager competition on two levels, to compete for placement. Many of the players knew each other from Nashville Tennis Meetup, but there were quite a few newcomers who joined in, making a great day for both playing tennis and meeting new players in the community!
Teams consisted of two individual doubles teams and winners were determined by a cumulative total wins by both teams. Everyone competed hard and there were some hard-fought sets, but, like all competitions, there were ultimately some players who had their day in the sun! Winners were:
Level 1
First Place Team: Sherwin Vicente, Christi War, Jason Deiter, Tom Guthrie.
Second Place Team: Ray Blair, Clif Love, jared Oldenkamp, Korey Roberts
Level 2
First Place Team: Walter Vargas, Susan Welch, Zach Brattsveen, Manuel Valenzuela
Second Place Team: Darwin Fu, Matthew Pfuntner, Zosimo Monteros, Hugh Daniel
The tournament was followed by a mixer at the Vanderbilt Holiday Inn, where drawings were held for a new tennis racquet, gift cards to Starbucks, Academy Sports and Dicks Sporting Goods, a new ball hopper, tennis balls and towels.

We are planning on holding the tournament again next year in October 2018 (date to be set), so pencil in the 2018 Tennis Nashville Fall Classic on you calendar for next year.
