USTA Jr Team Tennis

Kids can get active, have fun and make friends by playing tennis on a team.

Junior Team Tennis allows kids to enjoy tennis for a lifetime from the very first day of play!
USTA Junior Team Tennis brings kids together in teams to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles against other teams. It promotes social skills and important values by fostering a spirit of cooperation and unity, as well as individual self-growth. Also, it’s a fun environment for kids in whom they learn that succeeding is really more about how they play the game – win or lose.

How does it work?

USTA Junior Team Tennis is a USTA member product designed for kids ages 5-18. (Don't have a membership? Visit www.tryusta.com/juniorfree.com.) They are immediately placed on teams. All you need to start a league are two teams. Matches can be held anywhere from a local park or school to a commercial or private club. Teams are preferably co-ed but can also be single gender (boys only or girls only). They are divided by the following age and play levels:

Age Groups: 18U, 14U, 12U, 10U and 8U
Play Levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

How do I get involved and find a league?

Contact your local JTT Coordinator – these are coordinators that help you get started by matching you with a local program within your skill level! Once matched with an appropriate JTT program – they can walk you through the registration process. They are that and so much more.

How can I register?

1. Speak with your local JTT Coordinator and assigned Team Captain to get your TEAM NUMBER.
2. Login and create an account via Tennis Link (www.tennislink.usta.com) and click JUNIOR TEAM
TENNIS.
3. Click on “Have a Team ID?” and enter your TEAM ID # in the field provided to register!
4. Don't have a team ID? Register as an individual. (See next page for instructions)
How is JTT Included in the Youth Tennis Progression?
Players can play in either 10 & Under orange ball or 10 & Under green ball JTT leagues and receive participation stars in their
current level. Players will only receive participation stars for one JTT team per season and a maximum of two seasons per year. Players must play a minimum of two matches for their team in order to receive any participation stars.

JUNIOR TOURNAMENTS OVERVIEW

What are TN Junior Tournaments?

Tennessee junior tournaments are offered in a variety of formats, including individual, team, non-elimination and elimination. This allows kids to compete in a way that makes them feel comfortable, that matches their level of play and helps them to experience success. There is local competition for kids of all levels - entry-level, intermediate and advanced -and as age and ability advance, there are also national and sectional level tournaments. We suggest you start by playing in an entry-level tournament (TN LG) to get started.

Junior tournaments help kids take their game as far as they want - high school, college or pros - or just have fun competing, all while developing as players. Competition in TN Junior Tournaments does require a USTA Membership.

Is my child ready to compete in a TN Junior Tournament?

If your child is able to serve, rally, and can keep score - TN junior tournaments are for them! We suggest playing at a TN L6 tournament to get started.
