For this year's S.P.U.D. Tennis Tournament, we're pleased that groups will be coming from Atlanta and Memphis to participate, so with over 20 players and more Skills & Thrills participants, we'll have our largest tournament yet!
But we have an urgent need for more able-bodied player volunteers to partner with special needs players. Also volunteers to help with our Skills and Thrills drills for those special needs players not yet ready to play tennis. Partners should be proficient players, but mainly be willing to step back and let their special needs partner be involved in play.
The date for the 4th Annual SPUD Tournament is planned for Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at Centennial Sportsplex Tennis Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
S.P.U.D. stands for "Special Populations Unified Doubles" and is a tournament run by Tennis Nashville, the local community tennis association of USTA Tennessee. The tournament is run completely by volunteers and with the administrative help of Tennis Nashville.
