The Early Start League, ESL, is a league (for a championship year) that begins before the next calendar year begins and before year-end ratings are published. For example, a league that takes place in the fall of the 2020 calendar year, but is for the 2021 Championship Year. ESL winners will be invited to participate in the 2021 Tennessee State Championships.

- Match format is 2 singes court and 3 doubles courts.
- Scoring format is the best 2 out of 3 sets with the third set being a tiebreaker for men and women.
- Team roster is limited to 18 players.
