"The response has been great!," says Castro.
1. What has been the response from your members since tennis has returned to the court?
Members have been very supportive since the reopening. Everyone missed the game during the shutdown and was ready to get back on the court.
2. Do you have unique programs designed for this season?
No special programs at this point, but there has been an increase in demand for private lessons.
3. What do you see as the greatest opportunity, and the greatest threat for the near future of local tennis?
Opportunity: I think more people with little or no previous experience, especially adults, may have played some during the shutdown given the fact tennis provided an easy way to follow social distancing guidelines. Programs designed to serve such people is definitely an opportunity right now. Threat: some other racquet sports are beginning to show growth and that may take tennis players away from the game.
4. What advice to do you have for those tennis players looking for a place to play?
Look for places that offer, not only lessons and clinics, but also opportunities for casual match play and social activities.
